This is a win/win as far as I can see. Justin Trudeau and Patrick Brazeau held a charity challenge boxing match. The real win is that the match raised some cash for cancer research.

Conservative Senator Patrick Brazeau, who is supposed to have both military and martial arts training (according to CBC), and who had a cheering section of numerous Conservative ministers, lasted only three rounds against Trudeau. Apparently Trudeau barely raised a sweat, while Brazeau got hit often and hard.

Here's a video of the last little bit of the fight:

40 year-old MP takes it to 37 year-old Senator

Brazeau was at one time the head of the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples. He was appointed to the Senate by Steven Harper. Not everyone has as good a view of him as Harper does:

Patrick Brazeau, the scandal continues

Thrilla on the Hilla

Quote:
“I proved a Liberal can take a punch,’’ Trudeau said, after the bout as he met the media unmarked, barely tousled, not even breathing hard.

It’s was an apt allegory for a party reduced to a Commons rump, a party that has itself been battered, but is still standing.

And it might be a metaphor that interim leader Bob Rae can reinforce, because his Pugilist from Papineau laid an old-fashioned whupping on the cocky Prince of Patronage.

The fight was stopped in the third round as Trudeau, clearly in better condition, absorbed an early knockout bid from Brazeau, then turned on his tormenter with ferocity.

...Conservatives in the crowd rose in anticipation as Brazeau answered the bell in the first round, then sat in disbelief as their Big Blue Hope crumpled under the onslaught from the Liberal they love to hate.

...Federal Conservative cabinet ministers were sprinkled throughout the room of 780, where single tickets went for $250 and a ringside table cost $3,000.

Conservatives make little secret of their disdain for the Papineau MP with the famous name.

I had no idea Trudeau was already 40 years old! Holy smokes, time flies!

It was good of Brazeau to take up the challenge (especially after every other Conservative Trudeau asked turned him down), and money was raised for charity, so that's good.

The Conservative ministers having their boy blown out of the ring, that's good too.

And it might help put to bed some of the elitist fop jokes, the recent "cut and run" comments about Quebec, and the comparisons to Captain Jack Sparrow.

Neither did I. And I'm also jealous, he's a few years older than me and looks a lot better. I guess it's time to cut down on the Drunk Pair and Ganja
