Upon reflection, I find that I cannot continue here at EM.

The reasons are both obvious and obscure, but they do not rate comprehensive listing.

Good bye to all.

I am asking a Mod to close this thread immediately upon its being posted.

Crip.. I'd really wish you'd reconsider. You are a treasure on this board.

But if you don't reconsider, I will understand. Just too much has happened. I am also disillusioned. I'm sorry for everything that has happened... Crying or Very sad

The only thing I can say is:

Please don't go. You're loved and respected here, and we will fight to keep you. Please, if there's anything at all that you think can help make it possible for you to stay, stay and fight for it. Many will fight with you.

We've lost too much of the community over the past six weeks, we shouldn't lose anything more. I will understand if you have to leave... but I won't like it.

I don't really like these kinds of threads, and I'm guessing you don't really either, CN, given that you asked for it to be closed. But I'll repeat what I said to deBeauxOs. If you feel like you need to step away from the board, that's understandable (there's probably a fair number of people who feel a similar way right now, whether because of time constraints, emotional burnout, other personal crises, or some combination of things), but I hope you come back at some point. I appreciate your analysis and your wit.

Crip, I hope you can reconsider. And if you feel that you cannot continue here, I hope you will consider coming back in the future, if maybe we have moved past some of the things that drove you to these actions.

I don't suppose Crip thinks he will live that long. He's gone.

I wrote a post detailing why I will not be returning to the board before the moderator elections, but it was eaten.

Basically, they made a stupid, unjustifiable decision in suspending first me, then skdadl, almost a full day after things had quieted down. For people who think they're trying to quiet things down, they are remarkably good at stirring things up themselves.

It is time for the moderating team to go, and be replaced by one that is accountable and has a mandate from the members.

So may we assume you will be returning after the elections?

I hope so.

So why react so angrily? She did make a mistake. Clearly she thought you were saying something derogatory towards S so jumped to her defense, which was wrong. The correct action would have been to notify the moderators. I feel your attack on the current moderators is also uncalled for. Regardless of whether or not it improved the situation at that point, you had broken the rules therefore a suspension was not entirely unreasonable on the part of the mods. Then you come back here and it seems almost your first action is to start attacking by insulting the mods. Those mods worked extremely hard during the debacle. Since then many of us have apologized to one another and talked about how we can make things better for the future. Heph and I are even being nice to each other even though I suspect I am still driving him around the bend. Embarassed Why don't you join us in healing the board? We can't afford any more big battles.

In other words, Debra, you can attack people unfairly, swearing at them, starting posts about them, all because YOU can't understand something, but when the person you attacked is angry in their response to your insults, it's still all their fault.

Could we please not do this here? Crip started this thread and asked for it to closed. Not only has it not been closed, it has devolved into more of the same old...

Please?

Y'know, I posted something about going all Rodney King on another thread a couple of days ago.

Anybody here ever seen Mars Attacks! ?

Reaaaaaally awful movie. I mean, just terrible. If I were Tim Burton, I wouldn't want to talk about it. And if someone asked, I'd probably mumble something about bad drugs and then stare down into my drink or try and change the subject or something.

But it has a couple of bright spots. Jack Nicholson plays the President of the United States, and during a televised address in which he tries to make peace between the Earth and the invading Martians, he delivers a heartfelt plea, almost breathless in its sincerity:

"Why can't we work out our differences? Why can't we work things out? Little people, why can't we all just get along?"

Everyone's moved to tears. Even the Martians. And then they zap him. (I almost pissed myself laughing, but that's beside the point.)

Is that the way we want to go?

CN: Sorry to add to a thread you wished closed, but I do wish you would reconsider. We are going through real growing pains setting this place up, but if good intentions count for anything it's going to be really great when the bugs are ironed out. Hell, accept for some infighting, it's pretty great now, especially on the technical side.
RB: I think you've made some valid points that most can understand, but you're beating them to death now. Please "moderate" your own posts a little for the good of this place and all involved. BTW How will you run for a mod spot if you're not going to post here? Have you changed your mind about that?
