I can't see Michael Douglas doing a convincing Liberace.

I assume that this film would focus on the last decade or so of Liberace's life. I can't imagine Douglas playing a Liberace any younger than that.

I'd say that's a safe bet, unless they're going to de-age Douglas using computers. Of course, the whole double life that the younger Liberace lived would make for good film material.

Me, I'll believe it when I see it -- though even then, of course, I'll have my doubts.

According to sources, Soderbergh won’t make the Liberace film his next project, or even the one after that.

Indeed.

Hollywood in general, and Variety in particular, had "vaporware" [sic] down to a coarse art before Bill Gates' father was on solid food.

By the time this starts "lensing," as Variety would have it, it'll be directed by Michael Bay, and Michael Douglas will be playing not Liberace, but Jerry Lee Lewis. That's assuming he (Douglas) is even still with us by that point.

Well, contra lance, the film HAS been made, pretty much as advertised, albeit by HBO, not by a movie-studio per se.

I will say that Heph's mind-boggle was probably justified, at least going by the publicity still accomanying the article. Though I'm personally a little more boggled by Damon than by Douglas.
