Did anyone else get that very strange dark green cardboard leaflet from the province?
Looks to me like they want to reduce public school funding in favour of the Catholic system, and blame it all on enrollment and the ridiculously high salaries teachers are getting (you know.... those teachers who were ordered back to work a year ago? ).
Except they don't actually come out and say anything. They just print a bunch of tailored and leading information and mention that there will be hearings in the fall.
More sensible to merge the seperate school boards into the public schools. I've been saying so for quite a while. We have three schools in this neighborhood and two have relatively low enrollment - one of those is a Catholic school with only 5 classrooms.

I checked the mail this morning, and found nothing.
Apparently post-secondary schools are allowed a 2% increase in funding this year, which means our recently-signed contract (which covers a three-year period that expires at the end of this month) may be just barely covered.
This also means that SIAST will have no money for things like floor polish and Bon Ami, never mind new books in the libraries and, I dunno, working toward renovating the Kelsey Campus so our programs aren't scattered all over Saskatoon.
I see the method in Brad Wall's madness. Having an uneducated, ignorant populace increases his chances of remaining in office. _________________ "The purpose of government is to protect the weak from the powerful" Hammurabi

Well yes, if they'd be fine with the poster in our kids' school about it being a safe place for all genders, cultures, races and orientations, and sex education that includes contraception and abortion, I think that would be a good solution.
After all, I put up with the lord's prayer eveyr morning when I was in public school.
Religion should not be part of education. Save it for Sunday school.
I put up with the LP in school, too, but that doesn't mean it wasn't stupid and bigoted. We had an interesting name for Brazil nuts back in the day, too, that I wouldn't want to see re-instituted.
If two school boards are not sustainable, boil them down to one - and that should be the one that doesn't include institutionalized proselytization and prejudice.
Well yes, I agree with you. My point is that if they were able to inflict their beliefs on us in public school simply because we were in a catholic part of the province then they should get off their fucking high horses and stop pretending like their human rights are being violated simply because they don't like to see others' rights recognized.
