Okay folks, for your democratical pleasure, it's moderator election time again.
Nominations will be open until 11:59 PDT on September 9, and then voting will be open until 11:59 PDT on September 16.
I'll toss my hat into the ring for re-election. I don't know about those other two n'er-do-wells that are my co-moderators though. _________________ "Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear." - Thomas Jefferson

I declare my candidacy for Moderator. I'm in as well. _________________ This is pre-eminently the time, to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly. Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself-Franklin Delano Roosevelt

I was thinking of running, and resurrecting my old promise to never admonish nor ban anyone.

You might have had to break that promise anyhow, given the number of spammers we have trying to infiltrate the site. _________________ "Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear." - Thomas Jefferson

The campaign rhetoric here makes the US Republican contest look interesting.
Mitt Romney: "I promise to do the dishes."
Rick Perry: "I shall never waver, nor shirk my God-appointed duty to engage the vacuum cleaner." _________________ "The purpose of government is to protect the weak from the powerful" Hammurabi

But what about the poor sloths who may be trying to cross the monorail... they will be hanging there, slowly making their way across and never hear it coming.

Well, what more do you want? I'm quite prepared to promise anything you like. In the spirit of politicians to the south of us, I could invade a small country if preferred (just not a land invasion). But generally speaking I'm more of a pacifist into the free booze. Oh, and vacuuming. That's a given.
I see Diane is riding on the coattails of my ideas again, though, trying to up the ante with virtual liquor and mixed drinks.

For my election platform, I will do anything you'd like up to invading a small country and making you hereditary monarch. _________________ "Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear." - Thomas Jefferson

Hey, if you want to vote for me you can get in on the bribes election promises too. _________________ "Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear." - Thomas Jefferson

I can start hockey violence thread if it'll help. _________________ There is this old notion, Bolshevik, a little frigid for sure; the building of the Party. I think that our present war is about giving new content to this depopulated fiction.
Real sleeper of a campaign, where is the mud-slinging? And attack ads, we can't forget the attack ads. All I have seen so far is that one candidate doesn't care about the risk of monorails killing sloths and vague promises about alcohol consumption. _________________ Whom the hive does not cherish, it eats.
They always promise alcohol, and I never see the booze. At this point it's a promise about as empty as "open and accountable governance" or "fiscal responsibility" in elections of the governmental sort. And then they wonder why turnout is down.
What about different drinking ages in different projects? That's why I'm promising free ice cream. It's delicious, and freely available everywhere.

Okay let's check in again, one candidate has no sympathy for sloths and one disregards the plight of the lactose intolerant. The field is narrowing. _________________ Whom the hive does not cherish, it eats.

A couple of marginal demands....pot in every chicken....and a bridge to nowhere for everyone. _________________ There is this old notion, Bolshevik, a little frigid for sure; the building of the Party. I think that our present war is about giving new content to this depopulated fiction.

Just one bridge to nowhere? Don't let yourselves be cheated my friends. Not only will I invade the small country of your choice and install you as hereditary monarch, I will build you no less than three bridges to nowhere. _________________ "Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear." - Thomas Jefferson

Typical politician. Our primary demands have been unceremoniously tossed over a bridge. _________________ There is this old notion, Bolshevik, a little frigid for sure; the building of the Party. I think that our present war is about giving new content to this depopulated fiction.
If this thread effectively turns into a candidate debate then I must INSIST that Mike Schreiner be permitted to participate! _________________ ø¤°`°¤ø,¸_¸,ø¤°`°¤ø,¸_¸,ø¤°°¤ø,¸_¸,ø¤°°¤ø,

typical! going back on your principles just to get elected...i like it! Just call me king chester after you fly me in on a private jet to assume my throne.
So, the election is over. Here are our moderators for the next six months:
Tehanu
TS.
DSquared.
I want to take this opportunity to tell everyone what a privilege and an honour it's been for the past several years to serve as one of your moderators, and to wish DSquared hearty congratulations on his election. _________________ Scissors cuts paper. I also want to congratulate Tehanu and TS. on their re-election, and I would like to thank the rest of you for the trust and confidence you have placed in me. _________________ This is pre-eminently the time, to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly.
