Wow! Ding, dong, the witch is dead. Still can't believe that dude managed to get re-elected.

First thing that (possibly unfairly) flits through my mind is that there is another scandal about to break, and this is pre-emptive.

So who in the [so-called] Liberal party is going to replace him, any speculation?

Probably not the best news for the BC-NDP, as he'll likely take a chunk of the hostility around the HST with him. Now is perhaps the time for the NDP to do some leadership renewal as well, hmm?

So, when do they start naming public works projects, provincial parks or prominent geological formations after him?

I'm sure that there's a sewage treatment plant or a garbage dump somewhere in BC just going begging for a name.

What Tehanu said--my first thought was "Dang! With a new leader the Libs can probably pull off re-election."
Second thought was "Of course, if the NDP had a shiny new leader too, instead of the avatar of passive boredom . . . "

Mark May 11 on your calendars:

Quote:
B.C. Premier Christy Clark has called a byelection — in which she plans to run — for the riding of Vancouver-Point Grey on May 11.

Clark made the announcement Wednesday afternoon in her Vancouver office.

She announced Monday that she intended to seek the B.C. Liberal nomination in the riding.

Clark is a former MLA who quit her Vancouver-area seat after nine years in 2005. She won the B.C. Liberal leadership Feb. 26 and was sworn in as premier March 14.

The Vancouver-Point Grey riding, in the city's generally affluent West Side, was held by former Premier Gordon Campbell, who resigned as an MLA March 15.

Christy nearly Crunched:

Quote:
Ms. Clark’s by-election bid for a seat in the B.C. legislature paid off Wednesday night. Preliminary results from Elections B.C showed she won the race with 7,371 votes, or 48.9 per cent of the vote, compared with 6,776 votes, or 44.97 per cent, for her primary rival, NDP candidate David Eby.

Can you say "Premier Adrian Dix?'
