I am sure that we have all heard about this case. At first, I was aware that a 60 year old woman had IVF and there were concerns about the state of the children. Children! Were these people demanding information in order to donate money for them? Then, I heard far more stories about costs to the health care system and was confused (wtf!? It sounds as though someone is screwing the system like). Surprise, surprise, her name sounds, well, rather foreign doncha think? The CBC header cleared it all up for me though:

Woman got pregnant through fertility treatment in India

Quote:
Ranjit Hayer tried for decades to have a child, enduring multiple miscarriages, surgery, even the trauma of being robbed by a fertility doctor. Finally, after a successful IVF treatment, the Calgary woman gave birth to twins — at age 60.

She is believed to be among the oldest Canadian women to give birth.

Hayer's boys were delivered seven weeks prematurely by C-section at Calgary's Foothills Hospital on Tuesday morning, CBC Radio's The Current reported Thursday. The mother is recovering in intensive care, while the twins are in the neo-natal intensive care unit.

Ah thanx CBC! I got it. Wink Damn is she stupid and just so happens that she is an immigrant woman from an overpopulated country costing me tax money...RIGHT WHEN THE ECONOMY IS TANKING!!!! Immigrants are always trying to take advantage of our social programs.

Oh wait, sorry, my bad, I totally retract what I said above because I just came across another CBC header which says:

Quote:
Extremely white 85 year old Alberta Christian male fathers 8 kids

Rolling Eyes Once again, my tax dollars given to the National Post CBC, hard at work.

Yeah, CBC sure did underline the "immigrant" point a little excessively, in a kind of passive-aggressive way. thanks for demonstrating the contrast.

Funny how there isn't the same hand-wringing (how is she going to find the energy to take care of them in their terrible twos!?!) when it's an old man. Figures.
